Initial Assessment

Your initial appointment is considered a diagnostic interview. The information you share will prepare me with valuable information to help create therapeutic goals and structure evaluations. It also provides a space to ask questions, discuss and reflect. The format transpires through a structured and in-depth questionnaire and you will have space to express anything you wish. It normally takes 90 minutes. In complex cases a second Initial Assessment can be scheduled.

Parental consent for child therapy

Prior to beginning therapy, I am legally responsible to ensure that the parent(s) or guardian(s), provide me with informed consent before the start of a therapy session with your child. In addition, I would also ask if you agree to consent for me to share relevant information with other professionals if required, such as the GP and school. Confidentially is very important and I would not share personal information about you to the school; only what is relevant to your child’s issues. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Face2Face Therapy

My private practice is based in Islington, N1 8PT. I book therapy rooms in advance, often in block bookings. A concierge is on site in the reception area. There is street parking. Buses run close-by and The Angel is the closest tube station.

Parent Reviews

In addition to non-chargeable phone calls up to 10 minutes and email correspondence, I do Parent Reviews. The First Parent Review is non-chargeable and usually happens after the first few sessions and lasts up to 30 minutes. Please see ‘Fees’ on the navigation bar on the website for a breakdown of costs. Ask if you have any questions.

Clinical supervision

I meet regularly with a private clinical supervisor with whom I discuss my cases. These sessions between supervisor and therapist are confidential, which ultimately gives greater support for all concerned. A clinical supervisor is a an experienced psychotherapist who holds a qualification for delivering supervision. It is recommended that all therapists have clinical supervision and it is a requirement of UKCP.

Registered Body: UKCP

I am a fully accredited member of UKCP. You can go onto the UKCP website to access information about my psychotherapy and counselling practice. My profile is also listed on there. My UKCP membership no. is 2011164281. You can access their website at www.psychotherapy.org.uk.

Complaint procedure

If you have any concerns about a therapist and wish to make a complaint, go onto the UKCP website (same web address as above) and download a 7-page pdf entitled ‘making_a_complaint_leaflet’.

Professional Will

In accordance with UKCP requirements, I have made preparations should an unexpected event occur, i.e. accident, critical illness or death. As a psychotherapist I am obliged to include this in my policy. If such an event were to occur, you will be contacted by my clinical supervisor with whom I would share your name and contact details via the end-to-end encryption service Egress. Please note that your contact details would only be accessed for these purposes. Confidentiality will be maintained within the professional boundaries between clinical supervisor and therapist.

Duration of therapy sessions

The normal duration of the therapy counselling sessions is 50 minutes which equates to the therapy hour.

Payments

Please note that all fees are due before the meeting or session.

Cancellation policy

My cancellation policy requirement is 48-hours-notice.
